FLUTES OF HOPE is an ensemble and music program established in 2012 to pay tribute to the resilience of the Japanese people following the devastating earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear accident of March 2011. Flutes of Hope debuted at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in June 2012, performed at Carnegie Hall in 2013, and returned to the Cathedral in 2014. This year's program commemorates the fourth anniversary of the triple disaster and honors the spirits of those lost and the strength and compassion of those who are rebuilding their lives and their communities.
The concert will include traditional Japanese music as well as compositions by Teiji Ito, Henry Cowell, and Kaoru Watanabe.
